Hey friends! It's so nice to finally have my own web space to blog on and showcase some of my work.. it's been a long time coming but here we are!
I'd love to share a little of the story of how I got here (we'll skip through the teething toys and teen drama).
It starts with my husband Tim, and one of my best friends in the world, Nadine.
July 2016 saw me wrapping up my final term as a High School Science teacher at a school I had spent the first year and a half of my education career at in Sydney, Australia. On the 16th July, I would wed the love of my life, go on a kick ass honeymoon around Europe and settle down four and a half hours away from the city I'd spent my whole life in, in the small coastal town of Port Macquarie. This was nothing more than a career move for my husband and I was super keen for a sea change!
Around the same time, my flamboyant friend with the awesome curls decided to ditch her own career that she had spent the last God-knows-how-long studying for and enrolled in a diploma of graphic design.
At this stage it was simply intense envy and self pity that fuelled conflicting thoughts like 'people can do that!?' and 'woe is me.. it's too late for me'. But as time passed, and the prospect of getting a full time teaching job in such a small town seemed fainter each day, I humoured myself by searching a few different design study options available to me. I had realised that I could continue working casually and study at the same time online AND be done in only a year!
I am forever grateful that my husband had faith in me and supported my decision to enrol. I learned SO much about myself throughout the process, gained a confidence in my creative abilities that I never knew I had, and couldn't imagine myself ever not doing something creative for the rest of my life.
Fast forward to now, April 2018, Newcastle, Australia (yes, we moved!) - I currently work full time, design in the evenings, obsess over my adorable frug-face fur child Kobe, and enjoy all the down time I can get with my hubby.
